Shape The Future

Let's join forces to add and further improve content on the OpenVT platform! As researchers, we always have many ideas for updates and research in the field of virtual testing. Based on your sponsorship, we can implement them. So instead of paying license fees, you can support the sustainable and continuous development of the OpenVT platform. Our open source models and tools ensure that the whole community will benefit from your funding, while you will also benefit from the funding of your colleagues.

On this track, you can sponsor enhancement of our models and tools and you get all the sponsor privileges. In your sponsorship contract, you pick the project that is of interest for you. The sum that you pay is used as weighting factor to prioritise the projects. In our yearly September meeting (exclusively for sponsors and steering committee members of our specific contents), we plan which projects can be executed based on the available budget based on the ranking we receive from the sponsors. If you want to make sure that one of the projects is considered for the next year, you can do that by paying the full amount that is needed to implement it. If you cannot afford that, you just have to wait until others indicate the same interest and sufficient budget is allocated.

If you have an idea which is not on this list, please send us an email and we will estimate the required budget and add it on the list.

This approach will save our users money, as we establish a platform for joint activities and budgets in the area of vehicle safety. We want to avoid that different groups and users are doing the same thing simultaneously. We need resources to enhance Virtual Testing and Human Body Models – with the sharing approach we can scale small contributions up quickly.

Bigger projects with an estimated budget of at least 100.000 € for each: ​

  • Remodel upper extremity joints of VIVA + models as anatomic joints​

  • Improve biofidelity of shoulder area in VIVA + models​

  • Enable prediction of ankle injuries in VIVA + models​

  • Model thoracic organs in the VIVA + model​


Medium projects with an estimated budget of at least 50.000€ for each: ​

  • Enable arm fracture prediction in VIVA + models​

  • Update and validate VIVA + models for submarining prediction​

  • Make VIVA+ validation setups HBM neutral (for all current X setups)​

  • Enhance “Integrity of Virtual Testing” tool by including a more enhanced input checker​


Smaller projects with an estimated budget of at least 10.000€ for each: ​

  • Add additional anthropometries (e.g. 5th female VIVA+, 95th male VIVA+)​

  • Make VIVA+ validation setups HBM neutral (for each setup)​

  • Add an additional data type to Dynasaur LS-Dyna input reader​


Events organised by ovto (at least 5.000€ for each): ​
